Geothermal Resource

The Rotorua geothermal resource includes all the unique surface outflow features of the Rotorua geothermal field such as sinter cones, mud pools, geysers, springs, and hot pools but it also includes the geothermal reservoirs underground. 

The Rotorua geothermal resource means many things to many people.  It provides internationally renowned tourist attractions from geysers to springs.  It encompasses and forms the very foundation of the city of Rotorua.  Many social and commercial activities rely on the geothermal resource.  The Rotorua geothermal resource encompasses all geothermal water or geothermal energy associated or connected to the resistivity boundary of the region's geothermal aquifer.
