Environment Bay of Plenty, Rotorua District Council and Te Arawa Lakes Trust are working intensively with the community to protect, and in some cases improve the water quality of the Rotorua Lakes. This joint project is called the Rotorua Lakes Protection and Restoration Action Programme.
Planning for our region’s future is an important part of Environment Bay of Plenty’s work. The Ten Year Plan 2009 – 2019 outlines how we propose to contribute to wellbeing of the Bay of Plenty region over the next 10 years. It sets out our work in detail for the next three years and in outline for the subsequent seven years.
The Regional Land Transport Programme collates and prioritises all the planned land transport activities across the region. It sets out what work will be completed over the next three years to make our region easier to move around, why the New Zealand Transport Agency and all the councils in the region are doing things and what it will cost.
Tauranga Harbour is a regional treasure. The sheltered waters of the region’s harbours are a major attraction to many people. Locals and vistiors alike enjoy fishing, diving, and swimming within the clear waters of Tauranga Harbour.
At present, Rotorua is the only declared Local Air Management Area in the Bay of Plenty. Over winter months, the concentration of particulates within the Rotorua LAMA regularly exceeds the limit set by the standard.
